As the summer rain continues to put a dampener on our picnics it is important to remember to keep your brickwork covered during work. Efflorescence is drawn to the surface of a brick through prolonged exposure to water, followed by bursts of sunshine. In order to prevent your brickwork turning white in a few months time, keep your bricks covered whether in work or waiting to be laid. Divert rainwater pipes using socks away from the face of the brickwork and turn up the inside scaffold boards to avoid water splashing on the facade. When it comes to efflorescence, prevention is better than cure!
