Brickwork Mortar

The mortar that you select for your brickwork will have a massive impact on the overall appearance of the building. On average, a 10mm joint with 65mm bricks will result in approximately 18% of the facade being made up of mortar – incredible!

The colour, type and joint profile will therefore impact the overall appearance in many ways. There are numerous examples of images where the different mortar colours are used with one brick type to create interesting patterns and texture to large expanses of brickwork. You will see a series of images of bricks from the most popular colour groups.

Each brick is shown with four different mortar colours to highlight the differences. You may find this useful if you are on a tight budget and wanted to use a dark and light brick from the same colour tone. Instead of complicating things by having two different bricks, why not try two different mortars?
